Service Description

On this six week course course you’ll learn how to use a pottery wheel. All tools, materials and equipment are supplied. You'll have your own wheel and with a limit of five people per class you'll get plenty of guidance from the teacher. Beginners and improvers are welcome. This class meets on Thursday evening 6 - 8 pm, starting on Thursday 11th September 2025, 6-8 pm. There is no class 16th October for kiln firing. The last class Thursday 23 October 2025 6-8 pm. £180 per course. You'll learn throwing and turning. You are welcome to take a break during the class whenever you like, we have a kitchen area you can use. The class is friendly and relaxed. If you already know how to use a wheel you are welcome to work on your own projects. At the end of the course you will leave with 3 completed pieces. You can make more pieces but we only fire 3 pieces. This is to keep costs controlled - pots require two firings each at over 1000 degrees which is costly, and fired pots are not biodegradable so we only want to fire your best work. Sabali Pots was established in 2018 and we're proud to have kept our class prices fixed since then! Students must be aged 16 years or older and the last fifteen minutes of each class will be spent clearing up. Please bring an apron - it can be messy! If you can't attend one of the classes don't worry it's not a strict curriculum. But please note, we are unable to offer refunds or replacement classes as the teacher is being booked specifically for these times. Any unclaimed work left, for over four weeks after the course has ended, will be sadly be thrown away so please do collect your work, throwing away unwanted pots is a sad way to end the term! Entrance is from Lydalls Road (the back of the SOHA Building). Look out for the Makespace signs and the red door. The pottery studio is on the ground floor so feel free to tap on the window and we'll let you in.
